Bio

Since 2015, I have been working as a freelance press and communications consultant for architecture firms, cultural institutions and governments.

After studying communication management in Antwerp and a fascinating apprenticeship in a French- and English-speaking work environment abroad, I went to work for the then newly established Flemish Architecture Institute (VAi). It became a very instructive time as press and communications manager.

In 2015, I felt the time was right to start working as a self-employed person. My first - highly valued - client was META architecture firm. To this day, I advise them in their communications. The connection with the Flemish Architecture Institute was not cut either. I still manage the international newsletter and occasionally participate in press assignments.

Other architecture firms followed, for both short-term and long-term assignments. Organizations such as AR-TUR, the Province of Antwerp and Triennale Brugge also call on my expertise.

My expertise

Press and communications strategy

  • Clear communication starts with a carefully considered strategy. I will listen to your vision, examine your communication needs, analyse data and take a baseline measurement of existing communication channels. With this as a foundation, we can work together on developing a strategy.

Strategy development

  • Strategy development may sometimes suffice. But there may also be occasions when certain components need a practical translation. Creating press releases, text editing, bespoke press follow-up, devising social media campaigns, and so on. All of this is possible.

Press releases

  • A project description is not the same as a press release. A single text for professional journals, architecture magazines and the general press rarely – if ever – works. We can jointly establish angles and I will translate your project vision into clear, tailor-made press releases.

Press follow-up

  • Sending a generic press release to every journalist on your mailing list is not, in most instances, an effective strategy. Thanks to an extensive network of national and international journalists and editors, I offer a one-on-one approach and can play on the diverse expertise of the (trade) press. This has a greater impact on the visibility of your project. I use marketing tools to monitor the impact and plan the follow-up work.

Editing

  • I edit project descriptions, competition dossiers, web texts, social media posts, etc.

Social media strategy

  • You appreciate the importance of social media, but which social media profiles are relevant for your company, and how do you use them as efficiently as possible? I devise company-focused social media strategies, oversee their execution and manage the follow-up process.

8 years later

Over the past 8 years, I have advised architectural firms and organizations and helped them on their way with their communications, set up (inter)national press campaigns, supervised social media campaigns, edited numerous texts, etc. With some clients I entered into long-term collaboration, with others I work on a project basis.

Eight years later, I look back with satisfaction and amazement. Many interesting architectural projects have passed. And I have learned a lot about architecture and its role in society. Was it always easy? No, but always fascinating.
